Top 3 Wood Sanders
Although sanders have many different applications, when it comes down to it, the vast majority of people will be purchasing a sander for the purposes of sanding down wood for DIY maintenance or projects. These are the wood sanders specifically selected for their proficiency in this specific section of the market.
Bosch PSM 160 A Multi-Sander Review – Our Number 1
The first product I’d like to recommend is part of the famous Bosch PSM line of sanders (VIEW PRICE HERE!). When looking at the line up, I decided to choose the Bosch PSM 160 due to its impressive feature set. The Bosch PSM 160 A. As mentioned previously, the specific aspect of the Bosch PSM 160 that impressed me is its jam packed feature list. These are few of the features that I feel are of particular note.
- A built in suction system and large pack included on the pack resulting in a mess free work environment.
- A Velcro fastening strap located on the application surface making the removing and applying of the sanding paper a simple and mess free job.
- A switch which can change the heat and the intensity of the sanding process, potentially increasing the life span of the sanding paper.
- A remarkable 160 watt motor providing a massive amount of power, yet the whole sander itself is still relatively light weight at 1400 grams.
Bosch PSM 10.8 LI Cordless Lithium-Ion Multi-Sander Review – Number 2
The second product I’d like to recommend is the Bosch PSM 10.8 LI Cordless Lithium-Ion Multi-Sander. This is another entry from the famous PSM line of Bosch sanders, and in my eyes, this was the next major competitor when it comes to the choice of wood sander.
- A Velcro fastening strap located on the application surface making the removing and applying of the sanding paper a simple and mess free job.
- Large and solid handle giving the end user the precision needed to carefully sand a surface.
- Is completely cordless, meaning that it runs on a battery, a notable difference from its competitors. This should give the user maximum flexibility, however, it should be noted that the charger comes separately from the sander so you need to make sure to purchase it as well.
Metabo FSR200 41278 Multi-Sander Review – Number 3
I want to lean away from the famed PSM Bosch line and try and find another wood sander from another company, so the third and final product I’d like to recommend is called the Metabo FSR200 41278. The Metabo is a lesser known brand, but can more than hold its own against DIY giants like Bosch or Black & Decker. These are the features that particularly interested me.
- A vibration dampening handle making the job as easy as possible.
- A unique top down design choice made to give the user maximum efficiency when sanding.
- A rectangular sanding surface making for the fastest job possible, however, it should be noted that because it is rectangular as opposed to tear dropped, some of the precision of the other sanders will be sacrificed if you decide to get the Metabo FSR200 41278 Multi-Sander
Verdict
As you can now hopefully see, all three these Sanders are more than worth their salt. Both of the Bosch PSM sanders are solid entries into the sander market and the Metabo sander offers an interesting contrast against them, but in the end, the best of these three wood sanders is the Bosch PSM 160 due to its jam packed feature set, far and away exceeding it’s competitors.
